Apple Announces 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC)
A date’s finally announced for Apple’s 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Scheduled for June 10 until June 14, the company’s inviting developers and students to Apple Park at Cupertino though, the event will also be streamed for enthusiasts looking to follow the event online.
“We’re so excited to connect with developers from around the world for an extraordinary week of technology and community at WWDC2024,” says Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations, Susan Prescott. “WWDC is all about sharing new ideas and providing our amazing developers with innovative tools and resources to help them make something even more wonderful.”
WWDC Announcements
Attendees of the event will be able to watch the keynote, meet with important team members and Apple specialists, as well as take part in the activities prepared during the event. Those who’re unable to be physically present at the Apple Park can follow along on Apple’s website or their official Youtube.
As for what’s about to be announced, we can probably expect a couple of new products and software updates. Last year’s conference for example, saw the debut of the Apple Vision Pro; the expensive headset which Apple designed for “spatial computing”, though they do need to iron out a few things first.
Likewise, Apple also revealed a new Mac Studio as well as the surprisingly popular 15-inch M2 Macbook Air, coming with more screen real estate for serious multitaskers, all the while being up to 12x faster than their old Intel-based equivalents.
For this year’s events, we could probably expect some updates to Apple’s existing iPhone 15 lines, specifically details on iOS 18, and perhaps the second iteration of the Vision Pro’s visionOS. Perhaps some new iPads might just make it to the stage for those looking to upgrade their tablets this year.
Regardless of which products get announced, we’ll be keeping an ear for the details once the conference starts in June.
While we’re not exactly expecting any new iPhones just yet, you can check out the latest deal on last year’s iPhone 15 Pro here! There's even an e-SIM thrown in for you!
Apple Swift Student Challenge
As part of their stated commitment to supporting developers for their platforms, Apple will also be inviting 50 “Distinguished Winners” from their Swift Student Challenge; an initiative aimed at helping student developers showcase their skills and creativity.
The winners will be invited to Cupertino to take part in the in-person events as well as receive a one-year membership for the Apple Developer Program, a complimentary voucher for them to take an App Development certification exam, as well as a special gift.
Not bad for being an Apple enthusiast and developer. We’ll definitely follow all the announcements when time comes, keeping you posted for when we’re able to get these amazing items in-store!
