5 Reasons Why You Should Upgrade to the iPhone 15!

I know what you’re thinking. With most phones just coming in with incremental upgrades, you might be wondering whether it’s worth upgrading to the iPhone 15! To help you decide, we’ve gathered all the leaks, rumors, and speculations out for this upcoming flagship:

Dynamic Island

One big thing that the iPhone 14 Pro and the Pro Max brought to the table is the removal of the notch, replacing it with the new ‘Dynamic Island’. The island doubles as a useful shortcut for your background apps, letting you multitask more easily.

With the previous generation, you had to spend more on the Pro versions to get them but that’s looking to be changed. All iPhone 15 models are expected to ship with Dynamic Island, so if this is the major feature that has you eyeing an iPhone 14 Pro, you might want to spring for the iPhone 15 instead!

Bigger Batteries

While the iPhone 14 line (especially the bigger iPhone 14 Pro Max and the iPhone 14 Plus), had decent operating time, the iPhone 15 may be coming in with some much-needed battery upgrades. Rumors abound about the iPhone 15 using stacked batteries, offering greater energy density.

  • iPhone 15 - 3,877mAh | iPhone 14 - 3,279mAh
  • iPhone 15 Plus - 4,912mAh | iPhone 14 Plus - 4,323mAh
  • iPhone 15 Pro - 3,650mAh | iPhone 14 Pro - 3,200mAh
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max/Ultra - 4,852mAh | iPhone 14 Pro Max - 4,323mAh

Some speculators also say that the Pro variants of the iPhone 15 are getting a bump in charging speed, up to 35W. While this is still much slower than the 67W and 120W charging powerhouses you get in some Android phones, it should be much faster than the old 20W charging on the base iPhone 14.

USB Type-C

With the EU implementing regulations that make phone manufacturers adhere to a common charging standard, the iPhone 15 will finally be shipping out with USB Type-C ports. Now, it does mean that your older cables may no longer work.

However, the iPhone 15 line is said to include a USB Type-C to Type-C cable in the box. The cable is said to be braided and color-matched with the phone inside. Given that the iPhone 12 used a Lightning-to-USB Type C cable, your old chargers may just work fine!

Speaking of chargers, we’ve got official Apple USB-C chargers here too at a more affordable price. Check them out!

Periscope Telephoto Camera (on the Pro Max/Ultra)

One key area of improvement that the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max models are expected to have over the non-Pro is with their cameras. For one, the iPhone 15 Pro Max (or Ultra, if rumors are accurate) will be shipping with an improved periscope telephoto lens.

This new periscope telephoto is said to come with an optical zoom range of 5X to 10X! That’s a lot of detail even when shooting from afar! And for those interested in the numbers, it’s supposed to be an 1/1.9 inch, 85mm f/2.8 aperture lens, forming a cutting-edge imaging system.

Chipset upgrades

Of course, if you’re not on the current generation iPhone already, you can still expect some good performance upgrades. For one, the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to come with the A16 Bionic found in the 14 Pro, and the 15 Pro and Pro Max should be coming with a newer 3nm A17 Bionic.

In layman’s terms, the new phones should provide performance gains for playing even the heaviest games or running the most demanding apps without fuss. So if you’re still on an older iPhone model, then the performance leap should feel quite good if you upgrade!
