Samsung Galaxy S24: Latest Leaks and Rumors

It’s been a busy 2023 for Samsung. In addition to launching their Galaxy S23 and A-series phones, they also brought out some great foldables like the Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5. And now, we’re in that time of the year when more solid leaks regarding the brand’s upcoming Galaxy S24 line are starting to make their rounds online.

So for all the Galaxy fans in our Kimmunity out there, we’ve gathered all the latest leaks and reports in this writeup here:

A familiar design and form factor

As far as designs go, the Galaxy S24 line shouldn’t change too much from the previous S23 series. Small aesthetic changes point towards a flatter display along the three main lines, which helps result in slimmer bezels overall.

When it comes to the S24 Ultra, the renders show the same flat metallic side rails with rounded edges like its predecessor. However, like the iPhone 15 Pro, this new Ultra will supposedly sport a titanium frame, which hopefully results in significant reduction in weight, making for easier handling.

All three models should come with Samsung’s LTPO AMOLED displays, which enable adaptive refresh rates. Initial leaks also point to improved brightness across all three models as well as an upgrade to a WQHD display for the 6.7-inch Galaxy S24 Plus, bringing it to the same level as the S24 Ultra.

Return to Exynos?

Android enthusiasts rejoiced upon hearing that the Galaxy S23 line will exclusively use Snapdragon chipsets during release. Specifically, the Galaxy S23 used the custom Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy, granting them impressive performance and efficiency.

For the new Galaxy S24 line though, leaks reveal that Samsung is going back to using a mix of both Exynos and Snapdragon chips, at least when it comes to the Galaxy S24 and S24 Plus. Samsung has promised that its Exynos 2400 offers improved GPU performance compared to the Exynos 2200, as well as support for generative AI capabilities.

Those who prefer to stick with Qualcomm’s offerings will have to look to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which has been confirmed to come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 exclusively in all regions.

All about that AI

With more and more companies pushing and integrating AI as part of their tech, it’s no surprise Samsung wants in on the trend too. The Galaxy S24’s integrated generative AI model is slated to be called Samsung Gauss, named after the famous mathematician Carl Friedrich Gauss.

According to Samsung, Gauss will consist of Samsung Gauss Language, Samsung Gauss Code, and Samsung Gauss Image. All of these were said to originally be designed around work efficiency, with apps like Gauss Language being used to help with translating, summarizing documents, and even translation.

Samsung claims that it’s looking to bring all of these to the consumer end, according to a statement by the company during the Samsung AI Forum.

Miniscule camera changes?

Right now, there’s very few reports regarding the cameras for the Galaxy S24 series, and most of the leaks only talk about the Galaxy S24 Ultra. For one, the phone will still sport a 200 MP main camera. It’s also rumored to come with a new 50 MP 5x telephoto lens which could help produce crisper and sharper photos.

As far as the camera goes, only the S24 Ultra has gotten any leaks, being the most powerful in the line. The Galaxy 24 Ultra is said to sport a 200 MP primary camera, with a slightly better sensor than the one found in the previous S22 and S23 Ultra.

It’s also said to come with a 12 MP ultrawide camera, a 10 MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 50 MP telephoto with 5x optical zoom capabilities. However, leaks have also mentioned the S24 Ultra dropping its 10 MP with 10x optical zoom lens; something many people have enjoyed on Galaxy phones.

Storage, memory, and pricing

Rumors have also pointed out that the entire Galaxy S24 lineup will be starting with a whopping 12 GB of RAM as well as 256 GB of storage. While this could mean a price increase similar to the iPhone 15 Pro Max, at least buyers won’t have to shell out more for added storage.

As expected, there’s still no word as to when Samsung’s latest flagship will make its way to the market. Based on the Galaxy S23’s release date though, we should expect it to be available around January 2024.
