5 Reasons to Upgrade to the Pixel 10!
A radical new design? A minor refresh of its predecessor? When it comes to Google’s new Pixel 10, we definitely lean on the former. While the phone may not have changed much on the surface, we think there’s been plenty of improvements under the hood to make it worth the upgrade.
Even if you’re already on the excellent Pixel 9.
Below, we’ve listed the main reasons why the Pixel 10 is the Android phone to switch or upgrade to this 2025:
The telephoto camera
The biggest upgrade for the base Pixel 10 is obviously the camera. It now sports a triple-camera array on the back thanks to the addition of its own telephoto camera; something once limited to the “Pro” models like the compact Pixel 9 Pro.
It’s a very capable camera too. It’s a 10.8 MP telephoto capable of 5x Optical Zoom with OIS for more stable shots. And should you need additional magnification, it’s also compatible with Google’s Super Res Zoom, helping you achieve 20x digital zoom albeit, at the cost of some clarity.
Speaking of the main camera, the Pixel 10 sports a 48 MP main camera; largely unchanged from its predecessor. Still, it does guarantee good shots both indoors and outdoors. It’s the same story with its 48 MP ultrawide.
Improved gaming performance
Let’s talk about gaming; an area where Pixels are often behind other Android powerhouses. The Pixel 10 is now on its newest Tensor G5 chipset, which swaps out their usual ARM Mali GPU for Imagination Technologies’ PowerVR. Specifically the PowerVR DXT-48-1536.
It has raised some questions in user’s minds since we often find PowerVR GPUs in more budget Android offerings. No ray-tracing support here for example. However, there doesn’t seem to be any major concerns.
Mainstream titles like Mobile Legends, COD Mobile, or Valorant Mobile can easily sustain 60FPS, on high settings, though you might see some dips when going to Ultra settings.
It’s not on the level of something like the Snapdragon Elite or even a higher Dimensity chip when it comes to gaming though. It still struggles to maintain a smooth frame rate on more demanding games like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves; games that something like the Galaxy S24 handles easily.
But yes, it can definitely play your favorite games. Sure, you might have to turn down a few settings in a handful of games but you should still have a good time in the titles you most likely play.
New AI features
Of course, Google’s not passing up an opportunity to add and improve on its AI shenanigans with their newest flagship line. Like Magic Cue for instance, which works by helping you retrieve information from say, a screenshot or your email before bringing it up in a bubble for you if say, you need to use it in a reply or new email.
Additionally, there’s ‘Camera Coach’ which should help guide you towards taking the perfect frame and angle. A perfect companion for the Pixel 10’s already good and expanded camera hardware. It’s probably helpful should you have any doubts on how to best make use of your various camera settings and features.
Then there’s “Ask Photos” which allows users to edit their photos using just text or voice commands. You can tell Gemini to say, enhance the image, increase the background blur for the perfect “bokeh” effect, etc. Almost like you have a voice-activated Adobe Lightroom to play around with that comes default with your phone.

Improved battery life
Even when compared to the immediate Pixel 9 phone, the Pixel 10 already brings two things that can help it edge out the 9 when it comes to battery life. The Tensor G5 is built on a 3nm process, giving us even more efficiency gains with the transistors being packed closer together.
Additionally, the Pixel 10 carries a much bigger 4,970mAh battery. Bigger than the 4,700mAh cell in the Pixel 9. Sure, maybe the brighter screen, the added features, and improved performance may require more juice but this phone should easily last you the whole day and more with light to moderate use.
Pixelsnap
This next improvement isn’t exclusive to the Pixel 10. It’s also available on the three Pro models above it but, yes. Pixelsnap is a very handy addition since the entire lineup is now compatible with Qi2 wireless charging. Kind of like iPhones so if this is a feature holding you back from making a switch, then the Pixel 10 may just be the device.
And sure, it’s also an opportunity for Google to make you buy their own Qi2 wireless charging accessories but many existing Qi2 chargers and stands should still work with your Pixel 10 phone. You don’t necessarily need to go out and buy the new accessories if you’ve already got your favorite 3rd party accessories at hand.
