Affordable and Portable: The M1 Macbook Air in 2025!
Apple has really shaken things up in their laptop space with the launch of their own Apple Silicon, delivering impressive performance and battery life despite the slimmer form factor. That’s why we’re not surprised that almost five years later, the M1 Macbook Air continues to be one of the best-selling laptops here at Kimstore.
With that, you may be wondering how well it holds up this 2025? Especially given all the price drops it’s gotten, making it relatively affordable for an Apple Macbook.
Spoiler: It’s still very good.
A highly portable design
Apart from the much lower price, the main reason why the M1 Macbook Air continues to be a top-seller is the highly portable design. Sitting below an inch in height and measuring only 11 inches across, the M1 Air is very portable; a big benefit to anyone who needs to commute with this productivity machine in their bag.
No compromises to the power of the hardware either. You’ve got a 2560 x 1600p Retina display, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos playback, a decently-sized battery, and the nice scissor-switch keyboard. Those who do like the wedge design of older Macbook Airs will also appreciate the same design language used here.
Impressive performance five years later
There’s no doubt that newer models now offer a lot more performance given that the M1 chip is almost five years old now. That said, it’s still more than capable of offering top-notch performance for all of your tasks.
Simple office tasks like browsing, spreadsheets, or document writing? The M1 Air breezes through it without a sweat. Intensive apps like Photoshop or Premiere? No complaints here. Sure, the M2, M3, and especially the M4 are faster but you’re still completing them in less time on a laptop that’s very thin and light.
And of course, the battery life remains as impressive as ever. We’ve got Windows laptops that can offer a lot of performance but they typically need to be plugged in after a couple of hours. The M1 Macbook Air can sustain around 8 to 10 hours of sustained work without needing to plug to the wall.
No notch!
This is probably a minor reason but we’ve had customers prefer the slightly bigger bezels of the M1 Air if only because it has no notch for the camera. Much better than the M2 Air even if it has thinner bezels and hence, bigger screen estate. If this is you, you might prefer this style as well, if only for the uninterrupted viewing.
Do note that the M1 Air’s webcam isn’t as good as the one on the M2 Air, given that it’s only a 720p camera compared to the FHD unit on the M2. But if you don’t go on video conferences often then this probably isn’t an issue. And the 720p camera is still quite good for most calls even if it’s not as sharp.

Verdict: It’s still a deal!
For around PHP 34,500, we can confidently say the M1 Macbook Air is still a great deal this 2025! It has all of the essentials you need from a laptop while boasting battery life that lasts you the whole workday. It can use all of your iOS and iPad apps natively with no issues, making for easy compatibility if you’re already on iPhone.
