Samsung Galaxy Buds Core: New Budget Powerhouse?
It seems only yesterday that we got the more “budget-friendly” Galaxy Buds FE back in 2023. Now, leaks surrounding a new wireless earbud model from Samsung that’s targeting a more affordable segment, even when compared to the Buds FE.
According to reports, the new buds will be called the Galaxy Buds Core, possibly to mirror the One UI Core denomination they use for their simplified OS. But does that mean these buds come with big compromises?
We can only compare once the Buds come out. But we’re already seeing one area that’s a definite upgrade for this new audio device.
A Battery Monster
While the Core is reportedly much cheaper than the FE, it’s said to come with a much bigger battery overall. The Galaxy Buds Core will supposedly come with a 500mAh charging case; up from the 479mAh found in the Buds FE’s case.
Even more significant is the earbuds themselves. The Buds Core packs 100mAh batteries in each earbud which is way bigger than the 60mAh cells in the FE. Considering the FE usually achieves 6 hours of battery life with ANC features on (21 hours when factoring the case), the Buds Core may just be able to eke out a couple of hours more.
We do need to factor in the chipset they’ll be using of course but, so long as they use any modern chip made in recent years, the efficiency should be fine without sacrificing performance.

But what about the features?
Apart from the battery, there’s very little about the other features we could see from the early leaks. It’s probably launching globally, given the BIS certification it received, denoting availability in India. Early reports also point to ANC for enhanced immersion and likewise, Ambient Mode for better awareness.
Unfortunately, we don’t have design renders for it either. Remember Samsung has changed up the design of its buds before, such as with the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro, which closely mirrors its primary competitor’s stem design so it could go either way.
Still, if the price and sound quality is just right, then we may just have a new audio bestseller in our hands. What do you think?
