Infinix Note 50s 5G+ is official…with a scented back panel

Seems like we’re getting back to the era of these long suffixes.

Anyway, Infinix is bringing another addition to their Note 50 series in the form of the Infinix Note 50s 5G+. And yes, it’s already bringing in the yearly updates to specs and its Infinix AI suite as expected, compared to the earlier Infinix Note 40 line. But that doesn’t appear to be Infinix’s main selling point for this phone. Instead, it’s all in their scent-infused back panel.

Fragrance in the palm of your hands

Okay, to start with, not all versions of the Note 50s 5G+ will come with the scent-infused back panel. The Burgundy Red and Titanium Grey variants will both sport metallic finishes for those who prefer the smooth and well, unscented back panel of the traditional smartphone.

If you want to experience this new feature which Infinix is calling ‘Energizing Scent-Tech’, you’ll have to choose the Marine Drift Blue, which has a vegan leather back panel. So it does have something more than just the novel fragrance idea as the material could in theory help make the phone grippier to hold.

And while we’re still waiting to get the Infinix Note 50s 5G+ here at Kimstore, initial reviews have noted the fragrance to include marine and lemon notes. We’re expecting something like a car interior smell ourselves, given the material.

Other phone specs

Scented talking points aside, the phone does bring some good specs on the table. You’ve got the Dimensity 7300 Ultimate powering the phone, which Infinix claims is capable of 90FPS gaming in a number of titles along with all the connectivity features. The + in its name actually denotes a wider range of 5G though the standard itself is still limited in terms of coverage.

The display is quite nice, with a 6.7 inch 3D curved FHD+ AMOLED, capable of high 144Hz refresh rates so scrolling and day-to-day use should feel quite smooth. It’s the slimmest one Infinix has thus far, making it a very portable option.

Cameras are fairly standard in our opinion, with a very capable 64MP Sony IMX682 sensor with a 2MP secondary lens just for that dual rear camera setup geared for portrait shots. Infinix AI also comes into play here such as the Folax AI assistance, AIGC Mode and AI Eraser.

You’ve got a slightly bigger 5,500mAh battery for all-day battery life plus 45W fast charging, which Infinix promises is capable of taking your phone from 0 to 100% in just an hour. For heavier users, the battery supports bypass charging and it even offers 10W reverse wired charging.

The phone will launch with Android 15 and XOS 15. It’s reportedly coming with two years of OS upgrades and three years of security patches, which is pretty much in-line with previous Infinix phones we’ve gotten.

So even if you aren’t big on the whole ‘scent-tech’ thing, we do think there’s plenty to like with the Infinix Note 50s 5G+ as a smartphone. And hey, nothing wrong with having a phone that performs and smells nice!
