Macbook Air 15-inch announced at WWDC 2023!

Apple has just announced the 2023 Macbook Air 15-inch; the “world’s thinnest 15-inch laptop” at its 2023 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) event. This new model is said to come in at just 11.5mm thick while weighing just a little over 3 pounds. And of course, it will come with a larger 15-inch screen to give professionals more space for their apps and workload.

Thinner chassis, bolder claims

According to Apple, the new Macbook Air 15-inch will run up to 12 times faster than even their fastest Intel-based Macbook Air models courtesy of its Apple M2 chip. Professionals can also expect up to 18 hours of battery life, giving them plenty of headroom when working remotely.

Its LED-backlit, IPS screen is shown to have very thin bezels while having a resolution of 2880 x 1864, with brightness levels reaching up to 500 nits. It even comes with 1080p FaceTime webcam as well as three microphones and six speakers with Dolby Atmos support and spatial audio, perfect for video conferencing.

Ports are also fairly standard, with two USB-C Thunderbolt ports capable of supporting a 6K display at 60Hz, a MagSafe charging connector, and a headphone jack.

It will run macOS Ventura which will be followed by macOS Sonoma once it rolls out in the coming months. As for memory, it can be configured up to 24GB while storage can reach up to 2TB for a premium price. Like previous models, the new Macbook Air 15-inch will also have a fanless design, ensuring quiet operation all throughout.

Who is this laptop for?

This Macbook Air is positioned to be a great option for professionals who need more screen space than the standard 13” Macbook Air but are not keen on upgrading to the more expensive Macbook Pro.

It will come in four main colors. In addition to the well-known space gray and silver, the new model will also come in midnight and starlight, which looks like a dark navy and pale gold respectively.

This 15-inch model is also billed to be a good middle-ground among Apple’s offerings, considering the huge price gap between its 13” and larger models. The Macbook Air 15-inch starts at PHP 73,000 with a special discount down to PHP 67,380 for education purposes.
