Motorola’s Taking on the Galaxy S25 Edge with the Moto X70 Air!
Motorola has thrown its hat in the ring of thin and light flagship phones.
We first kicked off with the slab-type Galaxy S25 Edge before Samsung blazed to the scene with the really thin, really powerful Galaxy Z Fold7 and its upgraded 200MP main camera. Then Apple announces the iPhone Air, replacing the bigger iPhone 17 Plus in the lineup. And now, a teaser for Motorola’s Moto X70 Air has just dropped for more competition in the space.
An interesting release for sure and one that’s a little out of left field. However, there are some caveats to it that we do need to inform people about. But first, what exactly are we getting with this thin and light?
Meet the Moto X70 Air!
Well for starters, we’re definitely getting a thin frame that’s on par with the phones we mentioned above. The teaser image easily shows the phone fitting in-between a thumb and index finger, probably close to the 5.6mm of the iPhone Air, if not a little thicker, especially once we factor in the camera bump.
Additionally, the phone is speculated to launch with the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 from Qualcomm considering its release date and how Motorola was among the partners listed during the event. This should give it serious processing power for all its tasks provided they can temper the high temperatures of the phone.
AI will also play a big part when it comes to this phone, according to Motorola and they promise to show more when the phone is officially revealed, specs and all, at the end of October.
China-Only Exclusive?
Of course, there’s a caveat to this new thin and light smartphone. For one, the teaser was posted on Weibo, which implies that the new phone may just be releasing in China. To be fair, this is still just speculation since a lot of Motorola’s Chinese releases end up coming out under their “Edge” branding for their global release.
Additionally, there’s also some speculation that the rest of the Edge 70 lineup may also come as an all thin-and-light lineup but leaks for those phones are just as sparse right now. We’ll have to wait and see on this front.
