Quick Review: Tecno Camon 20 Pro
Thanks to their history of releasing nice phones with impressive hardware at more affordable prices, Tecno is steadily building up to be one of the top phone brands in the country. Likewise, the Tecno Camon 20 Pro is another excellent addition to the lineup, offering a solid camera and great performance.
But is this the phone to get for your next daily driver? Check out what you’ll get in its package below:
Buy it if…
You want great specs at affordable prices
The Tecno Camon 20 Pro is packing some really solid specs for its budget segment. It’s powered by a Helio G99 processor, which gives enough performance for most day-to-day tasks and it even has a nice 120Hz AMOLED display which is very pleasant to use.
You get a 32 MP front camera for your selfies, and a 64 MP rear camera capable of shooting up to 2K which should be sufficient for taking quality photos in all manner of lighting conditions.
You like the phone’s aesthetic
In addition to the performance-related hardware the Tecno Camon 20 Pro has, we also want to note down its interesting back panel design. Instead of opting for smooth, single color glass or plastic backs, Tecno opts for zooid shapes and a softer feeling plastic back, giving it a retro-futuristic look.
And while design preferences are highly subjective, the back panel of the Tecno Camon 20 Pro sets it apart from other Android phones and really stands out in a room. So if this kind of aesthetic appeals to you, then you’ll probably love the design of the Tecno Camon 20 Pro.
You appreciate a long-lasting battery
The Tecno Camon 20 Pro’s 5,000mAh battery is pretty standard for most budget and midrange phones yet, but the software and OS is also light and optimized enough that you should be able to eke out just a bit more use from the phone throughout the day.
It’s definitely a good choice for light to moderate users who want their phones to easily last a whole day before plugging it into the wall. In case you do, there’s a 33W charger included in the box, which is very convenient.

Don’t buy it if…
You want a phone with fast charging
While Tecno’s 33W charging is plenty fast for most people, you might be a power user who really needs that bump in charging speeds. In that case, you do have some options if you don’t mind spending a bit more.
There’s Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, which comes with a 67W charger at almost double the price. However, these charging speeds can easily take your phone from zero to 80% in around 30 minutes, which can be handy in a pinch.
You want the best mobile gaming performance
While the Tecno Camon 20 Pro’s Helio G99 is fine for a wide selection of mobile games, you might want to look at something stronger if you want to play heavier games at the highest settings. For example, while you can play something like Genshin Impact on the Camon 20 Pro, you might have to tone down a lot of settings to keep it cool and stable.
If you want to play on the highest settings, you’ll want a flagship processor like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the Galaxy S23, or a gaming phone with active cooling like the Redmagic 6R. They are a lot more expensive than the Camon 20 Pro though.
You want a 4K capable camera for video
While we think Tecno’s cameras are good enough for social media and general video, more serious videographers may want to look at other phones if they plan on shooting in 4K since these cameras can only go up to 2K.
For alternatives, the Samsung Galaxy A34 can capture video on its main camera at up to 4K, giving you much more detail to work with. It’s a lot more expensive sure, but the bump in video and photo quality could be very beneficial for more professional work.
