Samsung Galaxy Ring To be Unveiled at Next Unpacked Event
While we first caught sight of Samsung’s Galaxy Ring back in January 2024, more and more details have leaked regarding the wearable over the following weeks. For one, reports from Korea had teased the Galaxy Ring for the next Unpacked event, stated to take place in the second half of July.
What’s with this Galaxy Smart Ring anyway?
While there were leaks coming out prior to release, the Galaxy Ring was officially unveiled at the Unpacked event, as part of Samsung’s big presentation on their health ecosystem. However, apart from an official render, details have been quite sparse.
This time though, the report states that the Galaxy Ring will offer ECG support, blood monitoring, and most likely a whole array of different health trackers. There’s even talks about the device supporting NFC payments though it remains to be seen how they’ll implement this.
Additionally, we won’t be surprised if the device also supports Galaxy AI integration, considering Samsung’s also rolling it out to their Galaxy Buds. This should help with the Ring’s optimizations, further helping its health and fitness capabilities.

The time for smart rings?
Right now, the Oura Ring is looking like the most popular smart ring brand, having launched their first product back in 2016. Since then, alternatives such as RingConn or Ultrahuman have also emerged, depending on the apps and finish types you need. The Ultrahuman Ring Air for example, comes in a matte finish which helps resist abrasion.
Still, the market for smart rings right now remains relatively small, at least compared to other smart wearables like watches. But with a bigger brand like Samsung entering the market though, it could be possible for this category to really gain critical mass.
Other releases for July’s Galaxy Unpacked?
In addition to the Galaxy Ring, the July Unpacked event is also stated to showcase the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6. With last year’s Galaxy Z Fold5 and Galaxy Z Flip5 being some of the best foldables on the market, we suppose it’s not surprising that Samsung will be looking to extend their lead in the space.
How about you? Will you be interested in a smart ring over something like a watch? In any case, we’ll make sure to let you know if there are any further updates on these new devices.
