Apple’s iPhone 17 Launch Event Scheduled on September 9!

The big Apple’s striking back with an event of their own!

CEO Tim Cook has recently posted an official invite/announcement for the next “Apple event”, set to take place at Apple Park on September 9, 2025. Promising to deliver an “awe-dropping” experience, analysts and insiders are already speculating on which devices will be making an appearance for the big event.

While a number of gadgets are slated to make an appearance during the event, people seem to be most excited for the much talked about iPhone 17 Air.

Ultra-thin iPhone 17 Air replaces the bigger the iPhone Plus

Many people are now calling it the biggest design update made to the iPhone since the days of the iPhone X. While we don’t know how true this would actually be based on the renders, the iPhone 17 Air does appear to stand out just by being, well thin, measuring just 5.5mm thick at its thinnest section plus a slight bump for its camera array.

For reference, it’s over 2mm thinner than the 7.8mm iPhone 16. It’s one of those specs that doesn’t sound like much on paper but, trust us. You’ll definitely feel it in your pockets, especially since it’s only estimated to weigh around 145g.

It doesn’t appear to compromise on the display quality either. Leaks are already pointing to Apple finally bringing its ProMotion technology to non-Pro iPhones, including the 17 Air. It’s still going to be bigger than the base iPhone 17 at 6.6-inches. Appropriate, given that it’s reportedly replacing the Plus model in the lineup.

Of course, we’re already preparing for the possible tradeoffs. The battery might be smaller for starters, relying more on efficiency improvements brought by a new chip to help it last the whole day. Renders only show one camera, speculated to be a 48 MP main shooter, kind of like the iPhone 16e.

No reverse wireless charging for the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max

Initial leaks for the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max models talked about reverse wireless charging capability being its main gimmick and advantage over the base iPhone and the Air. However, it doesn’t look like it’s happening here, not based on a leak but on well, Google’s latest product reveal.

The latest Pixel 10 devices has reportedly dropped reverse wireless charging capability citing an incompatibility with the Qi2 magnetic wireless charging technology AKA MagSafe. The kind Apple also uses, having made this technology open-source some time ago. It’s possible Apple may have saved some tech for their own but it’s looking unlikely.

The Pro phones still have a few things that make them a much more compelling buy compared to the Air of course. The battery is much bigger for one, and the Pros come with a triple camera array consisting of a triple 48MP main, telephoto, and ultrawide cameras. There’s also reports that the Pro’s A19 chip is much stronger than the ones in the base iPhone 17 and the Air.

Are we finally getting an Apple foldable?

Aside from the iPhone 17 Air, people have also speculated on a foldable iPhone, well, “Fold” model to share the spotlight. Unfortunately, there hasn’t been any news on this front, with even leaks and rumors have been sparse.

There’s other gadgets sharing the stage with the ultra-thin phone of course. We might be getting the Apple Watch Series 11 is speculated to be taking the stage next month too along with the much bigger Apple Watch Ultra 3. The Ultra 3 in particular, is reportedly carrying a new upgraded blood pressure monitoring feature.

Not sure if there’s going to be a new Apple Watch SE yet but we won’t be surprised if one releases much later down the line. In any case, we’re definitely looking forward to all the gadgets to be showcased in the event and we’ll definitely let you know when we’ll get them in-stock here at Kimstore!
