The Best Camera of 2025?
At least if we’re talking about which item brought the most fun to our photography. Yes. In an era of specs warfare, photorealistic perfection, and all sorts of software image processing, the toy-like Kodak Charmera was the one to capture the Kimmunity's attention.
The Kodak Charmera is basically a portable, digital toy and keychain with a camera gimmick attached. The whole package is basically a tiny sensor and a plastic lens that takes shots more akin to a disposable camera from the 80’s.
So why is it selling out here at Kimstore?
Very Modest Specs

So if it’s not designed to deliver top-tier photography hardware, you might be wondering what kind of camera you’re getting. Well, here’s a brief rundown of its hardware specs for a rough idea of what to get:
• Display: LCD (Fixed)
• Battery: 200mAh Rechargeable
• Sensor: 1.6M (1440 X 1080) | ¼ inch CMOS
• Lens: 35mm
• Aperture: f/2.8 (Fixed)
• Frame Rate: 30FPS
• Video Format: AVI
• Storage: microSD up to 128GB
To be clear, this camera was never intended to compete in a battle of specs and hardware. It’s barely even winning against a budget Android you might have bought five years ago. But it doesn’t have to and most importantly, it’s not trying to.
Shooting with the Charmera

Taking photos with the Charmera is a very, very simple affair since it’s point-and-shoot. You can’t adjust things like ISO, aperture, shutter speed and other settings. You can check with either the small LCD display or the tiny viewfinder before praying that you get a good picture.
On the other hand, you don’t need to worry about perfecting those settings either, which is very liberating in its own right. You can even have the date printed at the bottom right of the photo if you like, further building on that throwback theme.
That doesn’t mean you’re limited to just taking the same style of shots however. You can use the arrow buttons to cycle through 7 photo filters and 4 different photo frames to dress your shot any way you want. Might take some time to get used to cycling through these options via the phone’s design.
The camera can take video but you will need to really hold it still since it doesn’t feature any built-in stabilisation. Shots can look quite grainy and low FPS, almost reminiscent of a Super 8 but that’s also part of its charm! It’s all about that nostalgia for a simpler time, back when we weren’t so concerned about capturing our memories perfectly!

“Gacha” Camera

The Kodak Charmera comes in 6 standard designs, with a special semi-transparent version that’s very rare. However, you don’t get to choose which one you’re actually getting. The camera is sold blind box style; where you don’t get to see which design you got until opening the box.
Admittedly, this can make it a little difficult if you’ve got a specific design in mind. Still, many people are happy with any of the ones they like. Some of the designs even throw back to old 80’s records where you can get different album covers for the same thing.
Any Alternatives?
So should you personally get a Kodak Charmera? Why not? It’s a great little collectible to add to your collection, even as a little curio that you can use to take some retro-style photos and videos every now and then.
The biggest strength of this camera is that it just grants you plenty of enjoyment in photography, even if the shots aren’t quite perfect. It allows us to re-embrace the charm of an imperfect shot; an imperfect moment in time. We can’t quite stress how fun it was to just run around looking for that nice nostalgic vibe.
Of course, we do understand if you want something much bigger and more capable. An actual, proper camera even if it’s pricier than the Kodak. For another dash of nostalgia, try out the Fujifilm Instax Pal here at Kimstore! You can even expand your shooting angles with the included accessories; all without weighing your bag down too much.
