A New Best Selling Laptop?
The M4 Macbook Air has arrived here at Kimstore, promising to deliver even more of what made the Apple silicon-based laptops one of the best that money can buy. Impressive performance, lightweight design with silent operation. Not to mention the amazing display and long-lasting battery life. It’s everything you’ll ever want in a thin and light laptop.
The question is, does it have enough to dethrone the previous best-selling laptop here at Kimstore? We certainly see signs that it does.
An appealing price
For us, there’s two big factors as to why this new Macbook Air is a very compelling laptop this 2025: the memory and the price.
Sure, if you’re only after a thin and light laptop you can use for basic tasks like browsing, emails, social media, 8GB of unified memory will be more than enough for your needs. And yes, we have completed work in a timely manner with 8GB Macs before.
Still, 16GB still provides a nice uplift though, giving it just a bit more longevity in the future. Given how costly increasing the RAM or the storage on a Macbook can be, seeing the M4 already start with 16GB for a more affordable base model is very nice.
16GB is also kind of essential if your workload involves AI and machine learning tasks. Even Apple’s own Predictive Code Completion - a feature in Apple’s Xcode where it offers suggestions on what code you’ll need next - requires 16GB of unified memory before it could work properly.
And all that for around PHP 60,499 when ordering here at Kimstore? Definitely worth the money in our book.
Have we seen this design before?
The short answer is yes.
On the surface, there’s very little change between the M4 Macbook Air and its immediate predecessor. It’s a boxy design with no tapering, visible bezels, and a notch for housing the webcam. It’s basically the same design as the M2 and M3 models.
Still, it’s a well-constructed laptop. The keyboard has little to no flex even when pressing down and the IPS Liquid Retina display generally stays up without wobbling even when we’re typing harder than usual.
The M4 Air does come with a new Sky Blue color, giving us a break from the usual Space Gray and Silver colorways. It’s still got a bit of a metallic sheen on it and it even looks like a very light silver depending on the lighting. It’s a very nice color.
Still, we do feel a bit of nostalgia for the M1 Macbook Air’s overall look. There’s been a lot to like about that classic design.

An actual performance upgrade
We’ve already written about how for most basic computing needs, an M1 Macbook Air provides the perfect balance of portability, performance, and battery life compared to any other laptop. But for those who are already on the admittedly older machine and are now looking for something stronger for their needs, it’s this new M4 Macbook Air which presents the better option.
On top of the RAM increase, the M4 has been bumped up to a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU, along with a stronger 16-core Neural Engine. All of this culminates in a 1.7x gain for your day-to-day productivity and 2.1x productivity increase for more demanding creative tasks like photo and video editing.
Hardware-accelerated ray tracing is also supported on the M4, mostly for development and production support. Hardware-accelerated ProRes and ProRes RAW is also another advantage the M4 holds over the first generation Apple Silicon.
And then there’s the other aspects of the hardware. The M4 ships with a 12MP Center Stage Camera capable of 1080p video recording, higher than the 720p HD camera on the M1. Sound’s also improved with a four-speaker sound system with support for Spatial Audio, compared to the basic stereo speaker system in the M1.
The M4 Macbook Air even supports MagSafe charging, freeing up a Thunderbolt 4 port for connecting other peripherals.
So if you’re looking for a faster computer, even when upgrading from a previous generation Mac, we think you really can’t go wrong with the M4 Macbook Air. Especially for the price we’ve got it here for you.
