Xiaomi 15S Pro Debuts with Brand’s own Xring 01 Chip!

It’s not entirely surprising that Xiaomi will immediately look to capitalize on the great results of the Xring 01, their in-house chip fabbed on TSMC’s N3E node. The company announced both the Xiaomi 15S Pro smartphone and the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra; their first devices sporting this new chip design.

And while we don’t have confirmation whether these devices would be released internationally, they do offer some interesting changes for us to look at here.

That said, let’s take a closer look at this in-house chip shall we?

We already mentioned it being fabbed on TSMC’s 3nm node making it quite similar to the Dimensity 9400 used in the higher-end Vivo X200 Pro and Oppo Find X8 Pro. It reads as a 10-core CPU made of two Cortex-X925 at 3.9GHz, six Cortex-A725 clocked between 1.9 to 3.4 GHz, and finally, two Cortex-A520 clocked at 1.8 GHz. It uses the Immortalis-G925 for the GPU and of course, a 6-core NPU at 44 TOPs because…AI.

According to initial benchmarks, the Xring 01 sits among the Dimensity 9400 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite used in flagships like the Galaxy S25 or Xiaomi 15. Honestly? Not bad for a first outing and all three chips should nonetheless provide all the performance you need for what you use your phone for.

A Pro in All But Chip

Apart from the chip used in the phone, the rest of the specs seem to be identical to the Xiaomi 15 Pro. You get the same 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rates, the triple 50 MP rear camera, and a 6,100mAh silicon-carbon battery which claims to offer better efficiency and durability compared to typical Li-Ion cells.

Continuing the in-house tradition, the Xiaomi 15S Pro will boot the Android 15-based HyperOS 2, and will come in either Black or Blue colors.

Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra: First in its Line

Another device shown in the announcement was the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra; the company’s first “Ultra” option among their tablet stack. And like the 15S Pro, it’s also powered by its in-house Xring 01 chip.

Unlike the 15S Pro which reuses parts and specs from an existing phone, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Ultra is drastically different from the others in its line. To start, it sports a bigger 14” OLED display complete with HDR10+, Dolby Vision, and 120Hz Refresh Rate. A big upgrade from the IPS LCDs of the Xiaomi Pad 7 and Pad 7 Pro.

Cameras are quite substantial, even if you only get two. There’s a 50MP shooter in the rear and a 32MP camera on the front. It does mean the Pad 7 Ultra gets a notch to house its front camera, which might be a dealbreaker for some.

Battery’s quite big too: a 12,000mAh cell paired with 120W fast charging. All of these are housed in its aluminum alloy frame complete with reinforcement ribs to keep the whole thing stiff. It also means it’s much heavier than the rest of the line even though it’s technically slimmer overall.

We mentioned the tablet acting as a laptop replacement and for that, Xiaomi has shown off a new stylus and magnesium-alloy keyboard attachment that you can use for this tablet. The tablet also comes pre-loaded with a bunch of office apps, including one for CAD activities.
