Samsung Unveils its Galaxy Z TriFold Phone
It’s big. It’s premium. It’s reportedly going on sale next week. Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold is now official!
And yes, it’s exactly what it says on the tin. The Galaxy Z TriFold is positioned as a device to really cement the South Korean giant’s lead when it comes to folding devices, with its Galaxy Z Flip7 and super thin Galaxy Z Fold7 reportedly making good sales across the market.
So what can we expect from Samsung’s latest mobile experiment?
Continuing the Thin and Light Promise

The Galaxy Z TriFold is pretty much a premium smartphone with two flaps that open up into a bigger, 10-inch display which is basically a Galaxy Tab S10 FE. It basically folds out in a “U-shape”, with the right flap (which contains the rear cameras) folding in last. And yes, they aren’t interchangeable, with a warning popping up for when you accidentally fold it the wrong way. Its cover screen is located in the center, making it resemble a traditional S-series slab phone when all closed up.
This is a little different from last year’s Huawei Mate XT, which folds into a "Z-shape", with the left side flap remaining visible and acting as the phone’s cover display.
The foldable 10-inch AMOLED has a resolution of 2,160 x 1584p with up to 120Hz refresh rates and 1,600 nits of peak brightness. Like the other Galaxy Z foldables, the TriFold comes with a preapplied protective film. Its cover screen sits at 6.5 inches; somewhere in between the Galaxy S25 and the bigger S25+.
Despite that, Samsung plans to continue the thin and light trend they’ve been pursuing with the S25 Edge, and Galaxy Z Fold7. The TriFold measures just 3.9mm at its thinnest point, coming out slightly thicker at the camera bulge. It measures just 12.9mm when fully folded. Impressive, considering it folds in twice. It’s the same as the Mate XT in this regard.
Premium, Flagship Specs

Inside, everything remains premium. The phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite and backed by 16GB of RAM, and 512GB to 1TB of fast UFS storage. It’s launching with the Android 16-based One UI 8, with up to 7 years of OS and security updates like its other premium brethren.
Cameras are also on par with other flagships like the Galaxy S25 Ultra save for a few key areas. You get a triple array at the rear with a 200MP main camera, a 10MP 3x Telephoto, and a 12 MP ultrawide. Meanwhile, both the main and cover screens get a 10MP shooter for your selfies. Not bad, but nothing exceptional other than the 200MP main shooter.
A new “Armor FlexHinge” has been implemented for the phone’s display to help accommodate the varying widths across the phone’s body. It also helps manage the creases (especially since there’s now two of them) and to ensure that the panels meet securely and with minimal gaps when it’s all closed up.
Samsung has also implemented a 3-cell 5,600mAh battery system across the three main panels for better all-day endurance. It’s still limited to just 45W fast charging but there are reports that an appropriately specced charging brick is at least included in the box.

A Cinematic Viewing Experience

According to their press releases, Samsung has designed the phone as a great canvas for watching movies or online video content. Take Youtube for instance. You can now put on the video and read the comments side-by-side, with a bit more room to spare compared to the Galaxy Z Fold7. But that’s not all.
The TriFold will also be the first Galaxy phone to support on-device Samsung DeX, again, kind of like a Galaxy tablet. You simply tap a button on its quick settings to boot it up and you can even pair it with a mouse and keyboard to make using it more convenient.
The Galaxy Z TriFold will first launch in Korea on December 12, 2025 next week before making their way to other markets. Customers may be able to get a 6-month trial on Google AI Pro when purchasing the TriFold in some places.
