What’s in the Box?

Apple’s packaging has become more minimal and is expected to be cut down further to reach their reduced carbon footprint goal by 2025. Apple is cutting down on its use of plastic packaging starting with the wrap, taking out 600 metric tons of plastic from the process

Inside the box, you get the traditional paperwork, an Apple sticker, a sim injector, and USB-C to Lightning cable.

On the Surface

Apple’s mission to reduce its carbon footprint doesn't stop with the packaging. iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini use upcycled plastic water bottles, the enclosure is recycled aluminum, while the tech inside uses recycled rare earth elements.

The iPhone 13 is designed to be tougher than any other smartphone glass. By using Ceramic Shield front, a combination of glass and ceramic, the iPhone 13 is guaranteed protection even without third party protectors. All iPhones in the new series are also rated for IP68 water resistance.

Camera

The camera of the iPhone has always been a heavy hitter. The Pro Camera system on the iPhone 13 Pro features an upgraded wide camera lens with larger f1.5 aperture and Apple’s largest sensor with up to 2.2 times improvement in low light, a larger f/1.8 ultrawide lens with 92% improvement in low light, and a 77mm telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

The camera software won’t be left in the dust either. Photographic Styles is a new feature which allows you to create personalized color settings and apply them real time while preserving natural skin tones and other important elements. Users will be able to choose from Apple’s presets or create your own.

With the new camera system, the iPhone 13 also improves its Macro Photography capabilities. Take small details closer than ever before. Focus on objects up to 2 cm away from your redesigned lens and more powerful autofocus system.

iPhone 13 also brings a brand-new feature called Cinematic Mode to take your iPhone videos to another level.

Apple studied the creative choices of Hollywood cinematographers, created an algorithm, and applied it to cinematic mode. Cinematic mode automatically adds focus transitions that shift the focus or depth of field, also known as focus racking.

Aspiring filmmakers, content creators, and video enthusiasts have another tool to capture cinematic shots in a simple and intuitive way

Display

The iPhone 13 series carries on with the Super Retina XDR display but with a display that’s 28% brighter than before. The iPhone 13’s 6.1-inch screen and iPhone 13 mini’s 5.4-inch screen are sure to be fully visible, sharp, and bright even under full sunlight.

XDR which stands for Extreme Dynamic Range just does that, it features a wider range of colors, more than the standard HDR range of other phones.

Along with Super Retina XDR Display, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have the new ProMotion.

ProMotion automatically adapts the iPhone’s refresh rate according to your usage and behaviour. So whether you're gaming or just reading on your iPhone 13, ProMotion will automatically find the right refresh rate that’s easy on the eyes and preserves battery life.

Apple boasts a CPU that is up to 50% faster and graphics up to 30% faster graphics than any of their competition. Gaming and content creation should be much quicker and more intuitive in the iPhone 13.

A15 Bionic also features Secure Enclave that protects personal information up to the hardware-level.

Battery

Of course, all the new features will be for nothing if the iPhone 13 series didn’t have a battery that can actually sustain it while you're away from an outlet. The iPhone 13 offers a leap in battery life, promising 2 and half hours longer battery life than the previous iPhone model.

Using a standard 20W power adapter, you can get 50% of battery in around 30 mins
